David Harding is one of the pioneers of trend following systematic trading in Europe. Winton Capital Management Limited (“Winton”) is currently the second largest CTA in the world with assets under management of over $13.5 billion.

Mr. Harding began his career in the financial industry in 1982 after graduating from Cambridge University with a First Class Honours degree in Natural Sciences specialising in Theoretical Physics.

In 1987, Mr. Harding co-founded Adam, Harding and Lueck Ltd (“AHL”) a computer driven, research-based CTA. Within a few years AHL had grown into one of the world’s largest CTAs and in 1994 was acquired by the Man Group where it has remained the company’s flagship fund. Between 1994 and 1996 Mr. Harding ran Man Quantitative Research, an in-house advanced statistical research department.

Mr. Harding founded Winton in February 1997 with an absolute commitment to statistical research into financial markets. Winton currently employs some 180 people with over 90 PhDs and Masters Degrees at three specialist campuses in Oxford, Cambridge and West London. Over the past decade Winton has never had a losing year enjoying an annualised compound rate of return of 18.95% since inception while total assets under management have increased 12 fold since September 2004.
